AUDITORIUM INFO

NEC 2k Digital

These auditoria are equipped with the latest in Digital Projection technology, used for the daily exhibition of films. Our NEC Digital projectors have a resolution of 1998 x 1080, and can process a colour depth that exceeds domestic formats such as Blu Ray. Unlike traditional celluloid, the on screen picture is as pristine on its last run as its first, and is immune from scratches and dust.

All of our screens have fully movable masking, which keeps the edges of the projected picture crisp and protects areas of the screen not being projected on. Some even have screen tabs, as well!

NEC / Barco 4k Digital

These projectors have a higher resolution picture meaning that images are even crisper than 2k systems where 4k content is played.

35mm

These auditoria are equipped with traditional 35mm film projectors. These are not used on a day to day basis, but can be utilised for special shows of archive films where a Digital copy may not be available.

 3D

Dolby 3D is a type of 3D technology, that uses a passive 3D system. Unlike other competing systems, Dolby 3D does not require a specially coated screen, and neither does the resulting picture suffer from ghosting or other artifacts. Dolby 3D glasses are retained by the cinema, and must be handed back to a screen attendant after the show.

 6-channel Sound

All of our auditoria feature multi-channel digital sound. In the cinema, the soundtrack is split into 6 channels. Four of those - left, centre, right and sub-bass - are behind the screen, with the final two channels being the left and right surround channels. All auditoria are powered by Dolby sound processors.

 Surround 7.1

This sound format includes two additional surround channels - surround back left and surround back right.

 ATMOS

The latest next-generation sound system. With Atmos, sound is more accurately placed in any location within the auditorium. In addition, there are additional speakers behind the screen to allow for a wider soundstage, and enhanced sub-bass on the surround channels. Dolby Atmos features overhead speakers in addition to a higher quantity of wall speakers.

Volfoni / RealD 3D

This is a different type of 3D technology that uses passive non-proprietary 3D glasses, which means you can bring your own 3D glasses if you have them, or you can buy a pair at the cinema that you can reuse time and time again.

Audio Description

Audio Description is a system designed for the visually impaired. Utilising a set of infra-red headphones in the cinema, a narrator describes the action as it is unfolding on screen. To make use of this facility, look for shows marked 'AD' in the film listings. The audio description can only be heard through special headphones, and therefore does not intrude on the film soundtrack to the cinema audience.

Infra-Red Hearing Assist

Designed for the hard of hearing, and utilising a set of infra-red headphones in the cinema, the volume of the film soundtrack can be adjusted on the headset, delivering more precise sound to the users ears.

T-Position Hearing Induction Loop

With this system, hearing aid users can switch their hearing aid to the 'T' position, which picks up the film soundtrack. The soundtrack is then directed to the users hearing aid earpiece.
